Up for sale is a wonderful, highly collectible piece of early American toy history: the "Busy Parking Station" mechanical wind-up toy, manufactured by the legendary Louis Marx & Co. in New York, USA.
This mechanical set features an architectural, tin-lithographed parking kiosk printed with a classic yellow brick, red base, and green corrugated roof pattern. The lithography remains bright and retains its highly charming vintage look. On the front, it proudly displays the bold "BUSY PARKING STATION" graphic alongside the official Louis Marx & Co. N.Y. U.S.A. maker's mark.
Mechanism & Play Action
The heavy-gauge clockwork spring mechanism is side-mounted and fully exposed, wound via a built-in fixed key. When wound and released via the small top-mounted lever, the integrated internal spring-loaded lever arm swings back and swiftly slings the miniature vehicle along the attached ramp.
Complete Assembly Included
-
The Main Kiosk Tower: Retaining its original attached upper sloped launch track.
-
The Track Extension: The rare, separately stamped yellow and green tin extension track piece that hooks into the main line to give the car a longer runway.
-
The Original Midget Racer Car: A small, streamlined red-painted tin-litho race car with a yellow driver silhouette and all four original metal disc wheels.
This is a fantastic, operational addition for any serious collector of pre-war American tinplate, mechanical automotive toys, or Marx memorabilia.

Authenticity Assessment
This item shows all the core hallmarks of a genuine pre-war Louis Marx & Co. production. The crisp registration of the multi-color lithography, the specific "Joy Line" type style of the "BUSY" lettering, and the stamped Louis Marx & Co. N.Y. U.S.A. logo block match known cataloged examples perfectly. The construction uses original folder-tab tin assembly methods on the tower chassis and base, and the underbelly exhibits the correct black-lacquered metal finish with red-painted tabs. The clockwork assembly features standard period cut gears and an un-plated, raw steel flat-coiled spring typical of early 1930s Marx manufacturing.
