This is an authentic mid-century Jewish National Fund (JNF/KKL) tzedakah (charity) box, a significant piece of Zionist history. This rectangular tin features a classic two-tone blue and cream lithographed design. The front displays a detailed map of Israel with city names in Hebrew (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, etc.), while the reverse shows the Star of David between two blue stripes.

The side panels bear the official KKL emblem and manufacturing credits for A. Levin-Epstein Ltd. and the Zvi Moran workshop in Jerusalem.

  • Design: Features the "Blue Box" map used to promote land development during the early years of the State.

  • Mechanicals: Top coin slot with a secondary hole for paper currency. The bottom features a hinged "trap door" access point.

Origin & Age

  • Origin: Made in Israel (Jerusalem).

  • Circa: 1948–1962.

Material: Lithographed tin/steel

Condition Report: This item is offered in as-found vintage condition with a heavy, authentic patina.

  • Mechanical Issue: The bottom hinged door does not stay closed. The latch mechanism remains in the locked position with the door open position.

  • Surface: There is significant surface oxidation (rust) on the top and bottom plates and along the seams. The lithography has scuffs, scratches, and paint loss commensurate with age and heavy use.
