Exceptional and rare late 19th–early 20th century Eastern European (Polish/Galician) solid bronze Sabbath candelabrum with original Star of David finial and four fully detachable arms. Cast in heavy bronze (just under 6 lbs), standing 18.5 inches tall on a 6.5-inch weighted base, this piece displays a magnificent untouched century-old patina ranging from deep chocolate brown to areas of natural verdigris. The four gracefully curved arms pull out from the central column (original period feature almost never found on later reproductions). The Magen David finial, turned baluster stem, and thick bobèches all exhibit hand-finished details and casting characteristics typical of Jewish bronze workshops in Warsaw, Lviv or Kraków before World War II. A museum-quality example of pre-Holocaust Polish Judaica in completely original, uncleaned condition.
Age: 1880–1920 (definitely antique, not vintage)
Origin: Poland or Galicia (modern-day Ukraine/western Poland), almost certainly made in a Jewish-owned bronze foundry for the local community.
Usage: Traditional Shabbat and Yom Tov (holiday) candelabrum. The detachable arms allowed for easy polishing and storage – a practical feature in Eastern European homes.
Condition: Excellent for age – all four arms present and functional, no breaks or repairs, original patina intact, minor expected candle wax residue inside sockets.
Item dimensions: 18.5" tall × 14" wide × 14" deep
