Featuring a beautifully proportioned, classical baluster stem adorned with deeply embossed floral repoussé rose motifs, these pillars represent the absolute height of historical Eastern European Judaica craftsmanship.

While mass-production Warsaw giants like Fraget and Norblin produced vast lines of secular hotelware, the workshop of Chaim Grün specialized heavily in serving the cultural and religious needs of the local community. This makes a surviving matching set of Grün Sabbath pillars a significantly scarcer find for the dedicated collector of historical Eastern European Judaica.

The candlesticks are physically impressive, each standing approximately 12 inches tall on a heavy, square base measuring 4.9 inches across. They uniquely retain their original, highly sought-after removable bobeches, which carry coordinating hammered and rolled rim detailing. The square stepped plinth bases are crisp, providing an elegant anchor for the elaborate foliate and floral artistry rising up the shafts.

The removable bobeches fit perfectly into the candle cups. The under-base architecture and weighted hollow core characteristic of period Warsaw manufacturers are clearly shown in the pictures. This pair survives with a gorgeous, dry original historical surface.

• Surface: The silver plating is beautifully preserved overall, showcasing a natural, dry antique patina. Unlike most pieces of this era, there is no heavy bleed-through to the base metal, confirming this set was meticulously cared for over the last century.

• Structure: There is a very slight, minor structural bend in the stem of one candlestick (visible under close inspection). However, this is almost unnoticeable when the two candlesticks are turned and positioned properly relative to one another.
