Titled "Security Safe Deposit" across the door front, this heavily embossed cast iron bank features highly detailed floral, rosette, and geometric panels on all sides and the top surface. The coin slot is located on the top plate.

Manufacturer & Historical Origin: This piece is attributed to Kyser & Rex of Frankford, Pennsylvania, one of the premier late-Victorian manufacturers of cast iron toys and banks. The design was popular enough that production elements were later utilized into the late 1890s and early 1900s by major toy foundries like J. & E. Stevens Co.

Age & Patent Marks: The underside of the base is distinctly cast with the series number and historical patent dates:

• "100" (Size/Model designation)

• "PAT. FEB'Y 15, 81" (February 15, 1881)

• "MAR. 1, 87" (March 1, 1887)

• Surface: This bank is in exceptional, uncleaned antique condition. It features a rich, dark, completely original black finish/patina with minor expected surface wear, tiny paint flakes, and slight oxidation spots consistent with a 130+ year-old toy. • Hardware: Features an ornate eight-pointed star combination dial/wheel on the door front. The door opens and closes smoothly on its original hinges, and the interior locking latch assembly is complete and fully intact.
