This exquisite miniature or "finger" style oil lamp features a rich Cranberry Glass font with a subtle optic rib or chevron pattern, providing deep color and excellent light refraction. The lamp is mounted on a weighted Gorham Silver Plate pedestal base, displaying the classic elegance associated with Providence, Rhode Island’s premier silversmith.

The burner is a period-correct "DORSET" model produced by Plume & Atwood (P&A). The thumb wheel is clearly marked "P&A Dorset Made in U.S.A. Thomaston, Conn." This burner is a favorite among collectors for its reliability and delicate pierced gallery.

  • Origin: USA (Base by Gorham, Providence, RI; Burner by P&A, Thomaston, CT).

  • Age: Circa 1890–1910.

  • Material: Silver Plated Brass/Copper (Base), Hand-Blown Cranberry Glass (Font).

  • Dimensions: Approximately 8" Height (to top of burner); 4.25" Base Diameter.

  • Hallmarks: Base stamped with Gorham "Lion-Anchor-G" hallmark, "E P" (Electroplated), and design number YC 3060. Burner marked "P&A DORSET".

  • Historical Note: The "YC" prefix in the Gorham model number is a specific catalog marker. In the Gorham system, "Y" denotes Plated Holloware, and the "C" refers to their specialty commercial lines produced during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Condition: The lamp is in Excellent Antique Condition. The cranberry glass font is free of chips, cracks, or internal bruising. The silver-plated base shows a warm, authentic patina with minor shelf wear to the underside consistent with age. The P&A burner is intact; the thumb wheel turns freely, and the wick is present. (Note: Chimney is not included).
