This is a stunning, authentic late-19th-century German Jewish ceremonial Kiddush cup. The cup features a unique hexagonal (six-sided) rim and a tapered body heavily decorated with intricate hand-chased repoussé floral motifs including roses and daisies.
The upper rim is engraved with Hebrew lettering, a traditional blessing or dedication often found on ceremonial wine cups. The stem is elegantly turned, leading to a wide, domed circular base that mirrors the floral artistry of the bowl. The interior of the cup shows a light gold wash (vermeil), which was traditionally applied to prevent the wine from reacting with the silver.
