This is an original antique red glass lantern globe with embossed markings: one side reads "Loc Nob Patented 3-10-14" (referring to the patented "LOC-NOB" locking ear/tab design that secures the globe in place when the lantern's globe plate is tilted for wick access), and the opposite side reads "Dietz Fitzall New York USA". The LOC-NOB feature, patented March 10, 1914 (U.S. design/patent associated with Warren McArthur/Dietz improvements), was introduced around 1917-1918 and became standard on Dietz lanterns. The globe is cylindrical with a slight taper, designed for hot or cold blast tubular kerosene lanterns used for railroad, barn, mill, or general utility lighting. Dimensions match exactly: 6.75" tall, 3" diameter at the top opening, 4" diameter at the bottom opening. It would typically pair with a 5/8" or 7/8" flat wick burner depending on the lantern model.

Origin: Manufactured by R.E. Dietz Company, New York, USA (pre-1931 production, as later Dietz items shifted away from "New York" markings after the company moved some operations).

Age: Circa 1918–1930s (based on the 3-10-14 patent date for the LOC-NOB feature; this specific embossing with only the 1914 date is from the earlier production run of these globes, post-1918 introduction).

Condition: Excellent vintage condition for its age with clear embossing, no visible cracks/breaks, light expected wear from use (possible minor roughness on edges, faint scratches, or patina). Fully functional as a replacement globe.

Material: Red pressed glass.

Item dimensions: 6.75" tall × 4.5" at widest diameter

Weight of item: 12.9 oz
