Offered for your consideration is a beautiful, 57 gram, mid-20th-century Italian solid .800 silver Kiddush cup. This chalice features a classically elegant form with a subtly flared rim, tapering down into a baluster stem and a step-domed circular footed base.
The front of the bowl features a striking hand-chased and repoussé cluster of grapes complete with articulated vines and leaves. Above the relief is the Hebrew word "בורא" ("Borei"—"Who creates..."), honoring the traditional Shabbat blessing over wine. The interior of the cup shows a lovely warm, original gold wash (vermeil) lining designed to protect the silver composition from the acidity of ritual wine.
Hallmarks & Authenticity:
The rim of the foot is clearly struck with dual official Italian hallmarks:
-
An oval cartouche containing "800" denoting solid continental silver purity.
-
A post-war registration lozenge containing the silversmith registry number "31" alongside its regional province mark. Lacking both the pre-1944 Fascist fasces and the post-1968 registration star, this hallmark confirms a precise manufacture window of 1944–1968.
Dimensions & Condition:
-
Height: 5.25 inches
-
Rim Diameter: 2.5 inches
-
Weight: 57 grams

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Exhibits a gorgeous, untouched natural aged patina with light surface wear and minor micro-scratches consistent with gentle ritual use. No major dents, deep gouges, or structural repairs. The gold-wash interior remains bright and intact.
