Presented for your consideration is a remarkable example of early Continental metalcraft. This hand-hammered brass vessel is reinforced with three applied copper bands, secured with heavy hand-wrought rivets. The piece features two large, sweeping brass "D" handles, each topped with a classic thumb-bit or "rest," a detail often seen on high-quality 18th-century measures.

The interior shows a deep, authentic verdigris and oxidation consistent with two centuries of use. The construction is robust, featuring a lapped vertical seam and a recessed base. While originally intended as a liquid or dry measure, the dual-handle configuration makes this an ideal and highly aesthetic Netilat Yadayim (Negel Vasser) for collectors of Judaica or early metalware. It retains a superb, uncleaned as-found patina that collectors of early metalware prioritize.
