This is an authentic, original two-piece cast iron farm tractor toy manufactured by the renowned Arcade Manufacturing Company of Freeport, Illinois, circa the mid-to-late 1930s. Featuring cast-in raised lettering reading "ALLIS-CHALMERS" across both sides of the chassis, this highly collectible piece showcases the classic silhouette of the early Allis-Chalmers work tractors, complete with an integrated, cast-in driver figure at the wheel.
The tractor is built from heavy two-piece cast iron construction joined via a central internal mating tab system. It stands out due to its surviving set of original, authentic white rubber "Arcade Balloon" rear tires, which show honest, beautifully aged heavy crazing and cracking typical of 90-year-old vulcanized rubber. The toy retains a good portion of its factory-applied signature orange/red enamel paint finish, untouched and displaying a wonderful, honest play-worn patina, surface oxidation, and micro-flaking.

Condition Report
-
Body & Structure: Excellent overall structural integrity. The two cast iron halves are firmly seated without any cracks, breaks, structural repairs, or welds to the cast metal framework.
-
Paint/Surface: 100% original, untouched factory orange-red enamel paint. Displays genuine, play-worn loss, scuffing, and minor surface rust bloom inside the crevices and along exposed high points. Note: The original surfaces have been left entirely untouched to preserve historical integrity and collector value.
-
Wheels & Axles: Features the highly sought-after original rear white rubber tires incised with "Arcade Balloon" lettering along the sidewalls. The rubber is petrified and displays significant, uniform age-crazing and discoloration.
-
Mechanical Note: One of the rear wheels can slip loose from the axle assembly but remains in good, structurally sound condition and is easily slid directly back onto the metal pin.
Authenticity Assessment
-
Casting & Seams: The interior seams reveal cleanly cast, tightly aligned interior tabs without the crude, thick over-flashing or gaps characteristic of modern fantasy recasts.
-
Texture & Finish: The cast iron surface texture across the top hood section is incredibly smooth to the touch. Modern reproductions utilize cheap, coarse sand molds that leave a distinctively gritty, rough pebble texture; this specimen exhibits the refined, high-grade sand casting finish unique to Arcade’s pre-WWII assembly lines.
-
Lettering: The side lettering features crisp, distinct, and cleanly defined relief edges.
-
Tire Markings & Wear: The factory-stamped "Arcade Balloon" lettering on the rear sidewalls matches correct 1930s typography. The heavy, geometric web-crazing throughout the petrified rubber compound simply cannot be replicated artfully by modern artificial aging techniques.
