This is an exceptional Middle Eastern / North African silver Yad (Torah Pointer) featuring an open-work Hamsa (Hand of Protection) finial and a multi-faceted octagonal stem. Measuring 9.25 inches in length and weighing 51 grams, this piece displays extensive hand-chiseled Hebrew epigraphy running continuously across the terminal and shaft.

The open-work palm is hand-engraved with the opening of 1 Samuel 2:2 ("Ein Kadosh Ka-Adonai, Ki Ein Biltecha"). The verse continues along the octagonal stem with "V'Ein Tzor Ke'Eloheinu" ("And there is no rock like our God"). The shaft also includes the date 1967, the patronymic name "Ben Eliyahu", and delicate floral border chasing along the reverse side. Unmarked as is characteristic of regional Mizrahi silver metalwork, tested as silver alloy.
