This is an exceptional mid-19th-century "Pennsylvania style" candle lantern. The shoulder features a crisp, embossed "Tower/Castle" emblem, a mark of superior craftsmanship rarely seen on standard tinned iron. Unlike most surviving examples, this lantern retains its original removable candle tray (fount) which remains fully functional and locks into the base using the classic two-tab mechanism. It features the protective X-brace wire guards, a fluted smoke bell, and a heavy side-mounted handle.
