An exceptional opportunity to acquire a curated, matching suite of two (2) original mid-century modernist oil paintings by the highly collectible and listed Israeli artist Avigdor Luisada (1905–1987). Offered as a cohesive "Holy Land Diptych," this set includes a sprawling, highly populated street scene of an open-air market in the Old City of Jerusalem and a serene companion depiction of traditional fishermen casting nets on the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) with the historic skyline of Tiberias softly visible along the distant horizon.
Rendered in Luisada's celebrated Ofakim Hadashim (New Horizons) movement style, both pieces showcase a masterful, high-energy impasto technique. The artist utilizes heavily textured palette knife and bold brushwork to give the architectural structures and landscapes incredible physical dimension. A rich, unified color palette of deep cerulean blues, vibrant greens, ochres, and earth tones runs throughout both canvases, making them visually stunning companion pieces perfect for a mid-century modern aesthetic, fine art gallery, or high-end interior design project.
Both works are executed on unmounted textured canvas sheets, are signed on the front, and feature extensive original hand-inscriptions on the reverse by the artist's own hand.

Condition Report
Both works are in good original vintage/studio condition. The oil paint surfaces remain remarkably stable, thick, and vibrant with no notable paint loss or flaking to the heavy impasto areas. Both sheets are unframed and unstretched; they have been safely stored in a tight roll for decades and retain a natural curl that will easily flatten once professionally matted and framed.
The outer, unpainted raw margins of both canvases show light age-toning, handling creases, minor studio paint splatters, and natural edge fraying consistent with mid-century studio works. The reverse of the Jerusalem canvas shows minor vintage foxing/surface spotting that does not affect the front painted image, and one corner crease.
Authenticity Note: The Galilee painting features a characteristic faint ink transfer ("bleed-through") visible over the green foliage in the lower right corner, caused by the heavy marker the artist used to sign the reverse. On unprimed canvas, this ghosting is highly prized by serious collectors as definitive proof of an original, unlined, and entirely unrestored canvas. Faint layout sketches are also visible on the reverse of the Jerusalem canvas.
