An authentic pre-WWII Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) color postcard published in Warsaw, Poland, by the renowned Central publishing house (Tsentral).
The front artwork depicts an angel on a cloud pouring a sack filled with 1,000,000 gold coins (רענדלעך / rendlech) down into the outstretched hands of businessmen below. The card features a traditional Hebrew blessing banner (לשנה טובה תכתבו) alongside a 5-line Yiddish rhyming stanza praying for divine prosperity, sustenance, and blessing in the New Year.
The back features the publisher's circular hallmark inscribed "פארלאג צענטראל ווארשא" (Publisher Central Warsaw), the monogram logo mark C.W., and bilingual headers (Pocztówka / Carte Postale).
Yiddish Text Translation
The Yiddish verse in the upper-left box reads:
די רענדלעךפאלען,
די הענדטעלעך ציילען.
אָ, גאט, זאָלסט אונז אלע
צו ניי-יאָר מיט חסד
די רענדלעך צוטיילען...
English Translation:
"The gold coins fall,
The little hands count.
Oh, God, for the New Year with lovingkindness,
May You distribute the gold coins to us all..."
(Hebrew banner in the middle: לשנה טובה תכתבו — "May you be inscribed for a good year.")
