This is a beautifully preserved, complete Victorian-era ceramic wash basin and pitcher set. The set features an elegant, deep-molded spiral swirl body accented with a delicate multi-color floral transfer design showcasing prominent wild pink/mauve and yellow blossoms framed by soft brown foliage and intricate geometric scrolls. The handles, rims, and interior spouts are additionally embellished with traditional sponged or brushed gold highlighting.
Both pieces feature matching stamped underglaze marks reading "DEFENDER / ENGLAND", identifying the pattern name and country of origin. This heavy, durable ware is classic English semi-porcelain/ironstone produced during the late 19th century for the export market.
