A rare and museum-quality 19th-century Russian silver Torah pointer (yad), expertly crafted in Moscow circa 1890. This significant piece of Judaica features a unique, multi-functional design: an integrated, hinged spice container (besamim) at the top, traditionally used for Havdalah rituals, alongside the yad for Torah reading. The piece is crowned with a masterful lion finial—representing the Tribe of Judah—situated above a detailed representation of the Ten Commandments. The shaft is elegantly adorned with a Magen David and a bezel-set carnelian stone. Hallmarked with the Moscow St. George, 84 zolotnik mark, and silversmith's initials. Such dual-use, communal pieces were frequently commissioned for institutional use, marking this as an item of high ritual and historical importance.
