This is a remarkable example of a late 19th to early 20th-century Wilkins Cast Iron Floor Train Locomotive. Produced by the Wilkins Toy Company in Keene, New Hampshire, this specific model represents the transition era between the original James Wilkins designs and the later Kingsbury acquisition. This "floor train" was designed to be played with directly on the carpet or floor, rather than on a track.

The locomotive features a 4-4-0 "American" style wheel arrangement (two leading axles and two driving axles). It displays the characteristic "long and slender" boiler profile that Wilkins was famous for, along with a finely detailed cowcatcher and a classic steam-era cab.
