This is a highly desirable, authentic early 1930s cast iron monoplane by the Hubley Manufacturing Company. This model is the "Embossed Star" variant of the famous "Lindy" Spirit of St. Louis plane. Unlike the more common versions that utilized paper or water-slide decals, this rare iteration features the circular star insignia cast directly into the iron mold on the wings.

The plane features a crisp radial engine casting, a two-blade propeller, and original nickel-plated disc wheels. It is finished in a period-correct silver enamel. This is an excellent crossover piece for collectors of Early American transportation toys, aviation history, and Charles Lindbergh memorabilia.

Condition Report

  • Overall: Excellent vintage condition with a "dry" original surface and historical patina.

  • Paint: Original silver-grey enamel. It shows honest "high-point" friction wear—rather than chipping—specifically on the raised embossed stars and fuselage edges, which is a hallmark of authentic handling over time.

  • Hardware Note: The central assembly bolt and hex nut on the undercarriage are modern replacements. All other components, including the wheels and propeller, are period-original and function smoothly.

  • Structure: No cracks, breaks, or repairs to the antique iron casting.

Authenticity Assessment

This item appears to be a Hubley Production. The "rubbed" wear pattern on the embossed stars is consistent with the natural degradation of oil-based enamel on raised cast iron surfaces. The tight, hand-filed seams and the weight-to-scale ratio confirm its pre-WWII manufacture. While the assembly hardware has been replaced, the primary components (body, wings, wheels, prop) are factory-original.
