Up for sale is an original 1920s–1930s antique American cast iron "Autumn Cape Cod Cottage" figural doorstop, manufactured by National Foundry (Whitman, MA) under mold pattern catalog number 90.

This heavy sand-cast doorstop features a detailed Cape Cod or English cottage architectural form complete with textured red-shingled rooflines, central chimney, multipane windows with black shutters, and a central white panel door. The sides and front yard feature heavy relief-molded hollyhocks, climbing roses, and autumn floral bushes rendered in vibrant multi-color oil enamels (mustard yellow, orange, cobalt blue, plum, and forest green) set along a flagstone walkway.

The reverse side displays the original unpainted hollow-back sand casting with authentic aged oxidation, as well as the clearly embossed catalog pattern number "90" in the lower left corner.

Condition Details

Overall Condition: Very Good Antique Condition. Retains the vast majority of what appears to be its original factory cold paint, displaying attractive natural high-point paint wear, light micro-crazing, and minor chipping along the front base edge consistent with 100 years of age and handling. The cast iron is structurally intact with no cracks, breaks, welded repairs, or structural defects noticed. The reverse retains its untouched original oxidation and light surface rust patina.
